Charter 17 Text

(revision of 20 January 2017)

  1. We believe in a government of laws and rights, not the whims of politicians.
  2. We stand for equality of all people, for everyone’s full human and civil rights, regardless of their race, sex, gender expression, religion, disability status, orientation, and national origin.
  3. We stand for fair and humane treatment of refugees and immigrants, even those who are not legally living and working in this country. Justice is for everyone.
  4. We stand against hate speech, bigoted attacks, violent rhetoric, and threats to vulnerable people.
  5. We oppose loyalty oaths, religious tests, and other forms of coerced speech.
  6. We support a justice system based on accountability, proportionality, and mercy.
  7. We stand against political oppression in government, the courts, in neighborhoods, and in workplaces.
  8. We take responsibility for our own choices and actions at work, at home, in public, and in social media. Our principles go everywhere.
  9. We don’t give in to fear.
